New Veterans Housing Unveiled in Canandaigua


Commissioner/CEO Towns recently joined the Finger Lakes Addictions Counseling and Referral Agency to celebrate the completion of Cadence Square housing for veterans. The development is located on the Canandaigua VA Medical Center Campus in Canandaigua and serves veterans and their families with affordable, high quality transitional housing and support services.

A renovated building includes a 15-bed Safe Haven Community Residence that provides recovery-oriented substance abuse and mental health services to at-risk Veterans. For those who have reached a more advanced level of recovery, there are eight Supportive Living apartments for 11 individual residents coupled with support and employment readiness services. A newly constructed building includes 17 affordable housing apartments for Veterans and their families ready for independent living. The location on the Canandaigua VA Medical Center Campus assures ease of access and a full continuum of care with integrated services in partnership with the Canandaigua VA.

Funding is provided by HCR, the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (Homeless Housing Assistance Corporation), the NYS Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services, Key Community Development Corporation, KeyBank N.A., the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York through M & T Bank.
