How to Make a FOIL Request

Are you requesting information or documents about a property in NYC?

Some official documents pertaining to properties in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx are available for download through the New York City Finance Department's Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS).

Click here to access ACRIS online.

If you wish to request information that may be available pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law from HFA, SONYMA, MIF, AHC, MBBA or TSFC you may:

Send a letter via regular mail to: 641 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY, 10022, Attention: FOIL Officer

-or-

Send an e-mail to FOILofficer@nyshcr.org.

For a list, by subject matter, of the types of records maintained by HTFC and DHCR, please go to: Subject Matter List

Your correspondence should describe as completely as possible the documents or information you seek. You may wish to use a form (available in Word) that has been developed by the NYS Department of State Committee on Open Government. You can copy the form and paste it into an email, or mail it to the address above.

Records requested pursuant to FOIL may be made available for review by appointment during normal business hours at the offices of the Agency.
