Michael A. Skrebutenas is the Chief Operating Officer (Interim) for the Agencies that comprise New York State Homes and Community Renewal. Mr. Skrebutenas' long record of public service includes working as Executive Deputy Commissioner for Division of Housing and Community Renewal, Director of White House Operations during the Clinton administration, as well as Deputy Secretary for Economic Development and Housing in the New York State Governor's Office.
He has worked in the affordable housing industry as a project manager for a regional non-profit and development director for a housing authority. He also served as General Tax Counsel to the New York City Department of Finance, where he worked primarily on economic development initiatives and real estate tax abatement programs.
Mr. Skrebutenas graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in 1986 and from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1991. He also has a Master's Degree in Urban Planning from Columbia University. He has taught as adjunct faculty at Columbia University's Urban Planning Program and at the Bloustein School at Rutgers University.
